MFA Students

Yan Pu

Writing for me is a way to resist death and oblivion, although it will inevitably be in vain. I use my writing as a way to understand myself, people around me, and life itself.  I love reading and spend most of my time reading, thinking (or you could call it daydreaming), and writing.

Before I came to Pittsburgh, I was an SAT prep course teacher in Beijing. I enjoyed my teaching life and felt at home interacting with (and also learning from) my students.

Recently, I have been writing on a Chinese online platform about my observation of Pittsburgh, trying to explore the history behind the streets and buildings. However, my lifelong writing subjects are mainly family, self-understanding, and love.
