Rachel Ann Brickner

Fiction

Rachel Ann Brickner is a first-generation college student from Pittsburgh. She earned a BA in both English Writing and Literature from Pitt, during which time she received the Pittsburgh Female College Memorial Scholarship, Burkhart-Alumni Scholarship, and Carol Kay Award. Rachel also studied Creative Writing and British Literature at the University of Edinburgh. Before beginning the MFA program at Pitt, Rachel worked in textbook publishing and as a freelance editor in New York City and San Francisco. 

Most recently, Rachel won Pitt's Turow-Kinder Award for fiction and was awarded a Ragdale residency for the 2018 season. Currently, Rachel is finishing her first novel based in Pittsburgh in the early aughts and a memoir about debt. Since studying at Pitt, she's also been working on video essays, audio stories, and short films.
