Oscar Enriquez


Oscar Enriquez grew up in Houston, Texas. He received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Oklahoma, with minors in History and English-Writing. His research interests include Latinx and African-American history, identity, American political culture, and militarism. He has worked as a research assistant on projects concerning international child sponsorship programs, and the creation/removal of Confederate monuments in the United States; he is also a certified pollster.

As of August 2019, he is working toward his MFA in poetry (and also writing fiction) at the University of Pittsburgh. His research and creative projects include studies of field research ethics and methodology, the personal lives of politicians, the immigration crisis in the southern U.S., and the AIDS epidemic as it existed in the south. His work was recently featured in a special issue of Arc Poetry Magazine celebrating poets from the United States.
